I am in the market for a skid steer to use on the farm. I have found a Gehl 4640 with around 1600hrs. Are these good machines/ what should I look for when inspecting it? My 2009ish Gehl 6640 rather suddenly stopped all hydraulic control to drive motors and lift/bucket as if the safety control switch had tripped or the parking brake was engaged.
Still having trouble with my Gehl 4500. I installed an electric fuel pump to alleviate any suspected vapor lock issues, set the regulator to 4.5 PSI. The issue that I still get it that the engine will stumble for 2 seconds and die when a slight load is applied.
It depends on which model if you have but if the engine isolators are bad you don't need to remove the engine from the skid. If the engine mount brackets are cracked or the bolts are missing from the engine block the engine has to come out. 22 hours seems a lot of time.
